Corner Bookmarks

The top picture are some quick little corner bookmarks that I made. They are sooooo easy! Simply cut a square of paper (these are 3" x 3") and fold into quarters. Unfold, cut out on of the triangles, refold, and tape the loose end down. Decorate. Done. See, I told you it was very simple! If anyone needs a tutorial, let me know & I'll post one, but I doubt you'll need it.

The second picture is of a card that Diane (djuseless @ SCS) sent me when she sent the rub-ons. I love this little card. Of course, right now I'm really into butterflies, (we plan on going to the butterfly farm in Vancouver on our cruise). And the colors are perfect. Pink & purple.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm making 12 move of the orange & yellow birthday cards today. (~ 2 posts ago). I'm coloring the flower image now. That's probably all I'll get done today, so I'll have to work very hard tomorrow to make things so that I'll have posts for the next week. I have to make some masculine cards, and don't have any ideas for them right now, so we'll see what I come up with.

DH & I are going to the movies again tonight. Wow, twice in a month, and we hadn't been to the movies in 3 years! We're going to see Tom Hanks in "Angels and Demons". I actually like Angels & Demons better than the DaVinci Code. So I'm excited. We're going to the Thai resturant before the movie too. What a fun night we have planned!

Happy Stamping!

More Candles

My good friend Diane (djuseless on SCS) was sweet & sent me these SU rub ons. I wasn't sure how well they would work on these dollar store candles, but I think the candles came out great! Thanks so much for sharing Diane!!!!
Well, it's now official. My DH is retired from the Army. After 28 years. The retiremetn ceremony was very nice. The 3rd Infantry Division soldiers as well as Pershings Own, Marching Band & the Fife & Bugel Corp in period costume do the retirement ceremony each month. Except for the Fife & Bugle Corp, the rest of the soldiers were their dress blues, and are so professional. It was a very nice ceremony. I took some pictures & will post them next week.
Hope everyone has a restful & wonderful weekend. I hope to get a lot of stamping & scrapbooking done!
Happy Stamping!

Orange Birthday

Orange & yellow are not colors that I normally use. However, I saw a card very similar to this over on SCS and thought it was lovely! So of course I had to make my own version. I couldn't find the card I cased, but if you know who I need to give credit to, please send me a message & I'll update this post.

Here's the deets:

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful & Warmest Regards
Paper: Summer Picnic DSP, Parisian Summer DSP, Tango Tangerine, Marigold Morning & Whisper White
Ink: Tango Tangerine
Misc: ticket corner punch, crystal stickles, earth element brad, key tag punch, linen thread, prisma colored pencils, blending stumps & baby oil

I hope everyone has a wonderful evening!

Merci'

I hope eveyone had a wonderful Tuesday. It's raining here AGAIN!!! Suppose to rain through Thursday! UGH, enough already! But, my flowers are loving it.

Winnie doesn't like the rain though. She saw "Mr. Bug" (her boyfried) this morning. Mr Bug is a black & white Japanese Chin, and he's as cute as a bug (no pun intended!) He has the most wonderful personality, and just loves the women! He doesn't care what species, he just loves women. Anyway, she saw him this morning & he had on his red rain coat & bright neon orange booties! It was the cutest thing! Winnie told him that he should be on the cover of GQ! I wish I had gotten a picture!

The card today is another quick & easy card. I really love the Stampin' Up! designer paper. It's so easy to pull colors together using the paper. The dark paper looks black in the photo, but it's really Bravo Burgandy.

Stamps: Merci & Echoes of Kindness
Ink: Bravo Burgandy
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Bravo Burgandy, Mellow Moss, Whisper White, Parisian Summer DSP
Misc: 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circle punches, scallop punch, large needle for piercing the scallops

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! God Bless America!!! What a wonderful event that Damon & I were fortunate enough to attend again today. The President laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns, and then addressing the public. His speech was very solemn, as well as encouraging. He promised not to send our men & women in uniform into battle unless it was absolutely necessary, and if he had to do so, he would ensure they would have the best possible equipment. Wow, how very powerful. It was a wonderful speech.

The first picture is of President Obama with Admiral Mullen, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The second picture is President Obama during his speech. The third picture is Audie Murphy's tombstone, the most decorated hero in all of America. For some reason, people place pennies at his grave. The Superintendent of Arlington has no idea why, or how it all got started.

Lastly, this is a 12x12 scrapbook page that just came to me. I will re-post it when I get Damon's pictures on it. I just thought it was appropriate for today. I made it late yesterday. Here's the details:

Stamps: Godspeed
Ink: Night of Navy
Paper: Real Red, Whisper White

Please remember all of our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen serving their country so bravely. Say a special prayer for them and their loved ones. They are America's Finest!

God Bless America.

Memorial Day Godspeed

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!!! It's been very pleasant here in Northern Virginia thus far! Hopefully the weather will hold until after the memorial activites tomorrow.
I got some stamping done today! YEAH! I'm so happy. Winnie didn't help me this afternoon, she slept on her daddy's lap all afternoon while they watched the Indy 500. Now we're settling in to watch the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 in my home town, Concord NC!

Last night we went to a surprise dinner for one of the SGMs that worked for Damon. It was a very enjoyable evening. His wife had it catered, and their home is lovely. He has a music room dedicated to mixing his own "sounds". It was amazing.

The pictures tonight are some of the pens my DH turned as thank you gifts. So we took one to give to his SGM. I'm sorry there's such a glare off of the bag, but I couldn't get rid of it.

Here's the supplies:
Paper: Old Olive
Ink: Versa Mark
Stamps: Godspeed
Misc: Top Note die

Well, I think I'll get a glass of wine & run upstairs to make a thank you note for ours hosts' last night before the race starts.

More tomorrow!

Happy Birthday

Good evening everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I've just been exhausted all week, and didn't even fell like booting up the computer. I think I may be getting a sinus infection or just bad allergies.

Princess Winnifred Barksalot is doing well. She met a baby bird this morning. It was sitting on the side walk, so she sat down and they just looked at each other. It was pretty cute. I'm surprised that the mama bird didn't get upset & swoop down on her.

I finally got my window boxes planted. I need to water them tonight too. I mostly put petunias in them, along with some vinca vine & some pretty little plants with pink flowers for some upright/tall contrast.

I'm going to get to see the President in person on Monday! I'm really excited. He will be at the Memorial at Arlington cementary. He will lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns, then come into the palladium and speak. Since my DH is the J-3 for the Military District of Washington, we'll have box seats for the event. I'm really looking forward to it!! I'll take some pics & post them later on Monday.

The card I posted tonight is one that my DMIL sent to DH for his birthday a couple of years ago. I really like it. She makes cards & scrapbooks too!

That's about it for tonight. I need to go water the plants & bet ready for the season finale of "Ugly Betty". That's our favorite show.

Happy Stamping!

Birthday Wishes

This was such a fun quick birthday card. I may have to make more of these. You could use any color combos you can imagine. Try some & then link back here to show us what you came up with!

Here's the supplies:

Stamps: Merci & For a Friend (sentiment)
Paper: Regal Rose, Handsome Hunter & whisper white
Ink: Basic Black, (Lovely Lilac & Pretty in Pink used for watercoloring image)
Misc: Ribbon

Today was such a busy day for me. I was exhausted when I got home. It was nice, so I got to sit on the deck & read my book for a few minutes. Of course, the Princess, Winnie, had to sit on my lap, and when you have a 1000+ page hard bound book, it's a little difficult to hold both. So I didn't get too much reading done.

Guess that's about it for this evening. Gotta finish watching "Dancing with the Stars". DH & I are pulling for Shaun Johnson, but we both agree Gilles will be the winner, and rightly so.

More later. Happy Stamping!

Pretty Pink Thank You

Happy Sunday evening everyone. I didn't get any stamping done like I had wanted to. Oh well. I did unmount some more stamp sets. The unmounting is going to take a very very very long time! I know I've said that before, but WOW!, it is very slow going.

The first pic is Winnie playing with her new toy that my DHs men gave her. She knew that it was hers as soon as she saw it. I think this is such a cute picture!

The rose is a pic my DH took of my miniature rose tree. It was in full bloom and was so pretty. It is started to wane a little, so I need to go dead head it, then it will be in full bloom in no time. However, there is something eating the leaves, so I need to take a sample to the nursery to see what I need to treat it with. I don't see any little creatures, so it's very obvious that they're there. (There's holes in the leaves.

The card I posted tonight is one that my DS sent me some time ago. It's a simple, but very pretty card. I don't know what the DSP is, I'm almost positive it's a SU! design. The other colors are Pixie Pink CS & ink. The ribbon is unknown.

I hope everyone had a enjoyable weekend. I wish I had a more productive weekend to report, but I was very tired, and needed the rest.

I'll try to post again tomorrow.

Have a pleasant evening!
Happy Stamping!

Tanks a Lot

Sorry I've been away for so long! Wow--what a week. My New York trip was very worthwhile, I really did get some good information that I can incorporate right away in my business. And DHs retirement luncheon was phenomenal! His people really put a lot of work and effort into making it rememorable. They had a short film all about tanks which my DH really loved, then a slide show of photos from spanning his career. They even had pictures of "Princess Winnie" which everyone called her. He got some lovely gifts, and one of them was wrapped and we were instructed not to open until we got home. Not only did it have gifts for Damon & me, but they also put a toy in for Winnie!!! As soon as I took it out, she knew it was for her! She's so smart. I was so touched. I took her picture with her playing with it, so we'll include pictures in our thank you note.

These are the thank you notes I made for Damon to use. He turned pens to give to some of the people that worked for him, and used the cards also. They seemed to be genuinely touched that Damon took time to make something for them.

The cards were very easy, and I really enjoyed making them. Here's the details:

Stamps: Dee Gruening Tanks a Lot
Paper: Various DSP, old olive, close to cocoa, very vanilla, chocolate chip
Ink: Old Olive, Versamark
Misc: brads, ribbon, buttons, eyelets

I'll try to get some additional cards posted tomorrow. I need to clean up my scrap room before I can stamp. I have been trying to unmount my stamps most of today, but it's really going to take a long time to do them all. But, I already believe it's going to be worth it. The space savings will be great.

One of my favorite card techniques

Oops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I forgot that my dear MIL reads my blog...............yep, you guessed it. She knew what she was getting for Mother's Day BEFORE I even mailed the package!!!! I forgot all about her reading the blog! How dumb of me! Go ahead, laugh. Next time, I'll wait until AFTER the holiday before I post anything. :-)

I leave for New York tomorrow, so I don't think I'll get anything posted tomorrow or Wednesday, we'll see. I'm going to take my laptop, so maybe I can get something up tomorrow, but Wednesday I'll be coming home on the train, & I don't think Amtrack has wireless. If I get a signal, I'll post on Wed too, but I doubt it.

The top 4 pics are examples of how I keep track of what stamp sets/stamps that I have. I stamp each set in a different color and write the name of the set & the ink color underneath. Unfortunately, they're not in any order or anthing, so I have to look through the book to find what I'm looking for, but that's OK. If I had it to do over again, I would group the images by "types" ie Christmas, Easter, flowers, pets, etc. The 3rd pic shows how I document my clear stamps. Since I keep my clear stamps in 3 ring binders on the plastic inserts you can get from Sunday International, I don't have a need for the sheets they come on, so I just tape the sheets into my book. Very easy.

The card is one of my favorite techniques. I've used it over & over, but it's been a long time, so maybe I'll do some more of these soon. They are very easy, just rubber stamping, but I really like how they turn out with the vellum.

Supplies:

Stamps: Touch of Nature
Ink: Wild Wasabi
Paper: vellum, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White

I've done these in the fall using leaf stamps & Handsome Hunter, Ruby Red or Pumpkin Pie. This would be beautiful in Pacific Point. Maybe that's what I'll try. Stay posted.

I hope all of you have a great week!

Happy Stamping!

The last waterfall card

This is the last set of waterfall cards I did last weekend. I hadn't used this stamp set before, I really enjoyed it. I need to try some new things with this weekend.

Well, I decided that I'm going to unmount all of my stamp sets. So, I ordered the CD cases & ez-mount. I have no idea how long it is going to take me, but I'm simply out of room to store any more wood mounted stamps. I'm so irriated that Stampin' Up will not just sell the rubber stamps without the wood blocks. I read on SCS that Shelli's good friends own a maple wood farm, and that's where SU gets all their woods blocks, so there is no way SU will ever offer acrylic or rubber only stamp sets. In my opinion, that's a real shame. I'm wishing I had the where-with-all to stop ordering stamps from SU! I hate paying for something that I'm not going to use. However, since I'm a hobby demo, I doubt that will happen. I have too much invested in SU right now. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes with the unmounting once I get all my supplies and get around to starting. And wouldn't you know it, I threw away about 6 sheets or perfectly good ez-mount at the first of the year when I cleaned up my stamping room because I didnt' think I'd use it again. (I had bought it for some unmounted stamps I bought several years ago.) So, learn from my mistake, and DON'T THROW AWAY ANYTHING!!!! (lol)

OK, enough complaining, here's the supplies for the card:

Stamps: Tart & Tangy
Ink: Real Red & Old Olive markers
Paper: Whisper White, Old Olive & Summer Picnic DSP
Misc: red brads, 3/4" circle punch, staple

I'm going to have to close because Winnie wants to help me type.

Have a great evening.

Green Birdie Birthday

This card was so quick to do. But I like it anyway. Sometimes quick & easy is best. I have no idea where I got the little birdie stamp from. It's a clear stamp in my collection that I forgot I had. I was looking through my inventory book and found it. And I thought he was really really cute, so I had to make something with him.

Regarding my inventory book, I have stamped each of my stamps and put into a bound book. I'll take some pics next time I have the camera out and post. It's a really neat way for me to look for a specific stamp set, or for a specific theme.

It's raining again today. And it's suppose to rain at least through Saturday. I had to go to the podatrist again, and the first thing he said was "what have we done to deserve this weather?!?" And I agree, quack quack, quack. Guess Mother Nature is really irritated!

Here's the details for the cards:

Stamp: Unknown
Paper: Certainly Celery, Garden Green, Flock Together DSp
Misc: nesties, ribbon

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

More Waterfall Cards

I told you I went wild (no pun intended) making waterfall cards this past weekend. These have the same sentiment that I put on the cards in my earlier blog. I really like this stamp set for masculine cards. If you haven't tried these cards, you really should. I think you'll be hooked too!

Supplies:

Stamps: Wildlife Reserve

Paper: cream, chocolate chip, ski slope DSP

Ink: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip

Misc: Earth Elements brads, ribbon from Michaels

It's still rainy here! I don't think we'll ever see the sun again!!! Winnie gets wet every time she goes out. Then she has to get toweled off when we come back in, and she thinks she only has 2 legs!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Happy Birthday

I can't decide if I like these cards or not. The colors are strange to me, but yet, pleasing. Let me know what you think.

Here are the details:
Stamps: Dream a Little
Ink: Black Staz-On, Ballet Blue
Paper: Ballet Blue, Pink Pirouette, Olde Olive, Baha Breeze DSP
Misc: Prisma, blending stumps, baby oil

I haven't used any of these cards yet, so I'll let you know if I get a call or email from any clients that I send them to. I'm still amazed that clients take the time to call me to thank me for the handmade birthday cards that I send out every month. It's very rewarding, as I'm sure you know.

Have a wonderful evening!

Waterfall Cards

Here are 2 of the waterfall cards I made over the weekend. They are so much fun!!! You pull down on the ribbon and the card folds out. I have others to post later in the week. If you want to try your own, here's a link to a tutorial over on SCS: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/waterfall_card/

Here's the supplies:

Stamps: Bitty Birthday, (sentiment unknown clear stamp)

Paper: Parisian Summer DSP, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Whisper White

Ink: Pretty in Pink, So Saffron

Misc: Soft Subtle brads, So Saffron 5/8" grossgrain ribbon, Pretty in Pink 1/4" grossgrain ribbon, 3/4" circle punch, staple

Once I learned how to make these (I really thought they would be difficult), I couldn't stop making them. I probably made 20 of them in total on Sunday!!! You can't tell very well in the picture, but I sponged around each of the white squares with either So Saffron or Pink Pirouette. It really brought out the color.

I really wish someone would send some sunshine our way to Northern Virginia! It rained all weekend, and is suppose to rain on and off all week long! UGH. I don't mind rain, but this is getting ridiculous. Plus, Winnie really doesn't like the rain.

I hope everyone had a very happy Monday & will have a good week. Oh yeah, next week I'll only be posting a few days because I have to go to NY for a business meeting. I'll be gone Tuesday through Thursday.

Have a wonderful evening.

Happy Stamping!

Gifts for MIL Mother's Day

Hello everyone. I hope you're having a wonderful Saturday. I haven't done anything today but rest. I have a very bad sinus headache, and can't seem to shake it. It's rainy again today, so that isn't helping. Luckily, DH understands, and has been taking care of me today. :-)
The top photo is all of the items I'm putting in a gift bag for my dear Mother-in-law. I think she will really like it! She really apperciates hand made items as I have said before. I've very fortunate to have such a wonderful lady for my Mother-n-law, and we're taking her on our Alaksan cruise in late June. I think we're going to have such a wonderful time! I can hardly wait. It's less that 55 days til we sail again. My DH & I love to cruise. In December we went of a 2 week cruise to the Carribean and Central America. Maybe next week I'll post a few of those pictures with some funny stories. Especially the sweet little lady in Caragena, Columbia! Stay tuned for that one!
The bottom 2 photos are some note pads that I made. They were fun and easy. The bottom photo shows the inside. I wanted to use some DSP for the inside, so I ran the DSP through the 9" Xyron, and glued it to the Bliss Blue, Lovely Lilac & Certainly Celery CS. Then I cut the pieces to size. Again, I stamped each page of the note pad on the bottom right as additional decoration. I got the tiny pens from Staples some months ago. I didn't know what I was going to do with them when I bought them, but they were so cute I couldn't pass them up!
I'll try to post something new tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Happy Stamping!

Acrylic Post It Note Holders

I made these acrylic post-it note holders last weekend. They were very quick & easy! I'm going to put one in my MILs gift bag.
The top picture shows the holders in 3x5 size & the bottom ones are 4x6. I also made the pens to match the DSP. I used a whole package of post-it notes on each of the 4x6 ones; however, I couldn't find the right size post it for the 3x5 size so I had to use some "weird" sizes side by side. I really don't like them, so I may have to see if Staples can cut some post-it notes to size for me. I think they have a big "paper saw" that they can use to cut multi sheets at one time.
One the 4x6 sizes I also stamped in the bottom right corner on each of the note pads. I thought that really made them cute.
Supplies:
Stamps: (top pic) Flight of the Butterfly, Morningsoft (bottom pic) Flight of the Butterfly, Echoes of Kindness & the bird is a clear stamp that I got in the sale bin at Michaels (I think?)
Paper: Tea Party DSP, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Ink: Staz-On Black, Regal Rose, Always Artichoke
Misc: stampin' sponges, RSVP pens, water color crayons, aqua painters
I cut the DSP either 4x6 or 3x5 & inserted it into the acrylic picture frames. NOTE: The frames are turned 180 degrees rather than stood upright as you would when you put a photo in the frames. I then stamped the design and adhered to the top of the frame. I attached the post it notes with red liner tape for extra secruity because I don't think they stay very well otherwise.
I hope you enjoy these acrylic post it note holders. I really had a good time making them!
Have a wonderful evening. I'll post the rest of my gift items tomorrow.
Happy Stamping!
